We proudly serve the Maritime Provinces of Canada, representing 19 departments:
Costumes, Craft Services, Diving, Greens, Grip, Lighting, Rigging, Hair, Makeup, Marine, Props, Scenic Paint, Script Supervision, Animal Wranglers, Set Construction, Set Decoration, Sound, Special Effects, and Transportation.

IATSE Local 849 has represented crew on over 450 projects for the past 35 years. 

We use promulgated agreements based on our Basic Standard Agreement. This allows for flexible contracts and the ability to grant variances to better support your project’s unique circumstances and needs. 

Do you have a restrictive budget and can't sign a full contract? We would still be delighted to work with you - talk to us about a Letter of Dispensation! Typically a 1-3 page agreement, a Letter of Dispensation usually outlines basic working conditions or benefits for crew working on your production that fits with your budget.

Motion Picture Studio Production Technicians, Local 849 of the I.A.T.S.E. is the Union which represents Motion Picture Technicians in Canada's Maritime Provinces – Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. Our members work in the following departments: Animal Wranglers, Costumes, Craft Service, Diving, Greens, Grip, Hair, Lighting, Make-up, Marine, Props, Scenic Paint, Script Supervision, Set Construction, Set Decoration, Sound, Special Effects, Transportation.

We are committed to the promotion and sustained growth of the region's motion picture production industry. We are proud to present a large membership devoted to the development and implementation of professional training programs from entry level, through intermediate and advanced level training.
